LESSON OBJECTIVE
Assessment Criteria AC 3.1 Explain the approaches and interventions available to support individuals with specific needs Below are questions pertaining to lesson 6. Please ensure to answer each question correctly. Alice Young is 88 years. A former Librarian, she lives on her own in a middle class community in a detached house. She is physically frail and has on recent occasions fallen and had been unable to get up. On one occasion she fell in the garden, on the second occasion she fell in the hallway and was able to attract the attention of a passer-by, by shouting, on a third occasion it was in the back of the house and it was sheer luck that her nephew David happened to be visiting the same day and found her lying helpless; David visits weekly. Alice has no other relatives in the area and she avoids contact with neighbours. She can be quite aggressive if neighbours approach her. The house is dirty and is in a state of very poor repair. David has tried on several occasions to persuade her to allow help in the home but she has adamantly refused. Ms Young being an 88 year old retiree should not be living on her own. In her situation there are several issues that instantly garnered a red light reaction.

The three intervention that would be good in Alice's Young situtation are : Medical, Lifestyle choices and Therapies and Guardianship. I think these would be helpful because she is a elderly woman who lives alone and does want anyone around her. She is also an aggressive individual who will do with conuscelling Therapy.

Three interventions approach she could use are residential care service which will help her interact with someone else that can help her and listen to her. Her nephew will still be able to visit her weekly. Another intervention is recreation, she will be able to be outside and not only in the house to be alone, once she is around other people then she will be able to come out of her aggressive state at some point. Also the use of transport can be another intervention where she will be able to move around on her own, by having a wheelchair she will able to do some things on her own.
