Many theories have been proposed to describe, predict, and understand the behaviors and phenomena of which communication consists. When it comes to communicating in business we are often less interested in theory than in making sure our communications generate the desired results. But in order to achieve results, it can be valuable to understand what communication is and how it works.
In today’s dynamic business environment, Organizations are realizing how important it is to “know what they know” and be able to maximize that knowledge. In an economy where the only certainty is uncertainty, one sure source of lasting competitive advantage is knowledge. How successful an organization is in achieving and maintaining a competitive advantage will depend on the quality and effective management of knowledge which it applies to its business processes.
Many organizations set up systems and services that are designed to acquire, share and disseminate information of all kinds. The information needs of organizations include both internal and external sources and require managing not only the information flows, but the systems required to access external information as well as the organization and personal communication systems.
